Nationally Accredited Course No 51998: “Course in Reading, Writing and Spelling English.”
Research carried out since the early 1990's in the US, the UK and Australia has shown that significant improvement in company productivity and profitability occurs in organizations after effective literacy training has been provided. The reasons are:
Financial returns to businesses having undertaken Workplace Literacy Training are well documented. The problem up until now has been the cost and time it took to improve the employees' literacy skills. The Sound Way programme now provides an effective solution at a number of levels:
The Sound Way’s assurance to all companies is to develop and improve the fundamental literacy skills of employees at any workplace more quickly, more effectively and more cost efficiently than any other system or programme available in the world marketplace today.
* Note for CRICOS Registered RTOs
As a registered accredited course, CRICOS registered RTO’s may purchase a Site Licence, add it to scope of registration and enrol and deliver the Course to International students who may be under the required entrance IELTS score for their principal course of study. Purchasing a Sound Way Site Licence provides CRICOS registered RTO’s with an English Course option that may allow International Student enrolment with lower IELTS scores.
This powerful DVD literacy teaching series delivers an impacting face-to-face course that has proven to significantly develop and improve students’ skills in reading, writing, spelling and clearly speaking English. The Assessment approach utilizes a combination of both formative and summative assessment to assess the students’ progress. The course can be delivered with a course duration ranging from 3½ weeks requiring 20 hours per week; up to a 10-week course requiring 20 hours per week. The clear options for timetable selection, are provided for in the Facilitator’s Manual.
No qualified English teaching staff are required to present the course, as a highly qualified and experienced native-English-speaking-teacher is presenting each of the lessons via the DVDs. It's as simple as the facilitator organizing the class in front of a data projector or television monitor for the required lesson time; then allowing the students to work their way through their supplied, professionally presented, manuals and workshop books; whilst being observed applying the competencies by the facilitator. A full 12 hour Facilitator Training Course is available for purchase.
A site licence includes:
This course is also an excellent intervention for Local or International students in any RTO with students who have been identified as struggling with their English proficiency.

Indigenous Trainer / Mentor
Contracted by: Pilbara Iron
I presented The Sound Way programme to 25 indigenous Australians on behalf of Pilbara Iron (Rio Tinto) at Tom Price in the northwest of Western Australia. Participants ages ranged from 16 years to 54 years. You can see below that I have completed the final scoring as requested.
I would like to mention that this programme has been a great pleasure to present in itself; not to mention the satisfaction one gets from not only helping others, but also seeing them progress so quickly. Several of the students have commented on how easy the classes have been to learn and wished it had been available to them earlier in their lives. Many have said they would like it to be available to their families.
One can easily see from the Score Sheet below, the success of this class. Some students improved up to 5 years in their reading ability in just six weeks. The average overall student improvement was 3.5 years in six weeks.
ERIC'S GRAPH
The Sound Way programme has given them self-esteem, pride, motivation, courage, and the confidence to seek employment. They have also commented on how nice it is for them to be able to do simple things that you and I may take for granted, such as being able to read the news paper, or read notes or flyers sent home with their children from school.
As you can see in the Score Sheet above, there were only a few students that didn’t finish the course for varying reasons, and some that scored much higher than others. I feel this was due to the level of effort they themselves put in. I strongly believe that the class was a huge overall success.
Yours faithfully,
Eric Rives
